This week, the atelier devoted part of its time to creating a shop window worthy of the name. Usually, rushing from one thing to the next, we never take the time to properly dress it — a true crime.
To remedy this oversight, I called upon my friend, the artist Laura Craveiro da Gama.
We were already collaborating back in our Studio Berçot days, where we both learned the ropes of fashion design in... 2011–2013, ahem.
Here, Laura is wearing one of our more or less successful creations, awaiting the professors’ verdict.
Window Week began with her preparatory sketches:
and continued with the conquering of a few practical challenges:
Find yourself a friend who will spend 45 minutes thinking through lorgnette diameters and curtain tape meters with you
Her husband, a French music star, had to take over the one task that defeated us
And finally, bringing the vision to life.
A good reminder that clothes (making, picking) are above all a wonderful pretext for companionship and a day well spent.
