By Bourgine

This week's report - September 7, 2025

On Thursday, we received a lovely postcard from a young client who aced her French oral exam, dressed in full Bourgine. Well done, Éléonor!
Upon receiving this letter, the theme of our newsletter became ovbious:

Here are the current reads of the 15 rue Racine students:
    - Romane: Franny and Zooey, J. D. Salinger
    - Evelyn: Bluets, Maggie Nelson
    - Caroline: When we cease to understand the world, Benjamin Labatut
    - Justine: Wabi-Sabi: For Artists, Designers, Poets and Philosophers, Leonard Koren
The Bourgine seamstresses’ library

Newsletters we deem almost as cool as our Report:

- Shop Rat by Emilia Petrarca (clothes)
-
Maybe Baby by Haley Nahman (essays)
-
Not Boring (technology)
- Good Thing Going by Lena Dunham (reading recs)
- The Museum of Small and Important Things by Ally Sullberg (creativity)
- Miranda July (Miranda July)
- A newsletter by Alison Roman (cooking)
- Ask Polly by Heather Havrilesky
(psychology)
-
Messy Messy (curiosities)

If you come visit us, don’t miss these neighborhood spots:

- The Red Wheelbarrow Bookstore
- Librairie de Cluny
- Librairie Rieffel
- The Abbey Bookshop
- San-Francisco Book Co

Fun fact, it's not uncommon for our customers to trade the small fortune earned by selling their second-hand books to our neighbor Gibert for a brand-new Bourgine piece...
Meanwhile, we are buzzing behind the scenes preparing for a big event. I'm sworn to secrecy, but get ready to spend an evening with us in early October.

Have a nice Sunday!

Bonus — Caroline has a habit of spying on captivated readers in the Paris metro:
Bourgine
15 rue Racine in Paris
